Pharos

by Ada Hamza

As much as we love a bit of colour, we feel like it’s time to go back to basics on our next project. So for the month of March we’ll be releasing a B&W zine from a different artist every Thursday via our online store.

XZines will be an ongoing project as we aim to feature photographers we adore in our all-time favourite format. Kicking off the project will be the very talented Ada Hamza, Jacob Wallwork, Marcel Rollock and Morgan Crowcroft-Brown.

Next on the chopping block is Pharos by Ada Hamza. Hvar, originally named Pharos by the Greeks who first settled there in 4th century BC, is one of 79 islands in the Croatian Adriatic sea. It is a high east-west ridge of Mesozoic limestone and dolomite. It was part of the mainland until approximately 11,000 years ago when sea level rose and made it a mundane summer destination for thousands of tourists from all over the world who go there to enjoy its many scenic bays and simmer on its sun drenched rocks.
